FORMER Borussia Dortmund manager Lucien Favre has become the latest high-profile candidate to throw his hat into the ring to replace Neil Lennon at Celtic Park, according to reports.

The 63-year-old Swiss is out of work since being sacked by the Bundesliga giants in December of last year and he has previously worked at Hertha Berlin, Borussia Monchengladbach and Nice.

Favre is believed to be a contender to replace Rudi Garcia at Lyon when the Frenchman leaves the Ligue 1 outfit at the end of the season. However, recent reports from France are now suggesting that Lille head coach Christophe Galtier could be Lyon's preferred option.

According to the Daily Mail, Favre could be tempted to take the reins at Parkhead as he looks to get back into first-team management.

Scotland boss Steve Clarke, former Bournemouth manager Eddie How and Manchester United legend Roy Keana have all been linked with the vacancy in recent weeks, while last week majority shareholder Dermot Desmond revealed that the Hoops would be taking a careful approach to appointing Neil Lennon's successor.
