A THUG who punched a shop employee causing a bleed to his brain has avoided jail.

Steven Boyle pounced on Manoj Marwaha at the Ibrox Convenience Store in Glasgow on October 25 2016.

The 59-year-old punched Mr Marwaha on the head causing him to fall to the ground and lose consciousness.

Boyle pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to the assault to Boyle’s severe injury and permanent impairment.

He was ordered to do 300 hours unpaid work and put under supervision for two years months by Sheriff John McCormick.

Boyle was also tagged for the same period keeping him indoors between 8pm and 6am.

The sheriff said: “You have not been in trouble since the incident and you are now a man of 59 years.

“This was a serious offence and the consequences to the victim were graphic.

“I don’t expect you to breach this order, but if you do, I will order a warrant for your arrest.”
